When one dies, his body literally becomes part of the Earth. However, with the current means available it is not as eco-friendly as the Earth would like. With coffins taking up land, making it inhabitable and increasing carbon footprint, people are looking into other ways of a healthier and more eco-friendly ways of leaving this world.

As innovations continue to pile up, one of the more exciting and creative ways of passing away is to be one with the sea and be transformed into a coral reef. How does one become a part of the sea? Read on to find out.

Pearls: The Artificial Reefs

Incorporating remains into the sea seems like a fun way of leaving this world. With several providers putting a spin on cremated ashes, the Earth will thank you for your tiny contribution of becoming a habitat for the marine life.

Pearls, or artificial reefs, mix one’s cremated remains with 100% natural cast concrete. Once it is all set and cast, family members and friends can integrate handprints, laminated messages and other mementos that will personalize the pearl.

Then, on the dedication day (as this process is called), a boat provided by the service provider is going to place the pearl on its established habitat. Family and friends can come along and see the pearl being put down to be a part of the marine life. Isn’t this one more ash not lost in the attic?

Integrating Memorials on Dedication Day

As we mentioned earlier, the dedication day is the time where pearls are brought to the sea. Because this process is different from the traditional means of saying goodbye, you need to adapt and be flexible with a memorial. Here are our suggestions for a love-filled activity.

Aside from these activities, you can always incorporate other family traditions to make this more memorable. The most important thing is to make this activity as memorable, heartfelt and eco-friendly as possible.
