When using the funeral homes’ chapel, some companies would offer to provide mahjong tables to keep guests and the family up and awake and entertained. These services will be added up on top of the Standard package but these are optional.

Although the two mentioned main services every funeral homes can provide, the vigil commonly called “the wake” expenses shouldn’t be overlooked. For family and friends who travel long distances to join the wake, the bereaved usually open their house for the lodging and provide make-up tents for the crowd. Three main meals per day are to be served as well, plus snacks and beverages.

Filipinos are closely knit among families and friends, and funerals and burials of a member are taken seriously. For those who don’t have prepaid funeral services ready, everyone would chip in to make the last farewell of a loved one as dignified as possible.
